A man having a serious medical problem died at the Huntington Beach Navigation Center for the homeless on Tuesday morning, Jan. 19, police said.

At about 5:00 a.m., a call for a 59-year-old man in medical distress was made from the Navigation Center at 17642 Beach Boulevard. Paramedics responded and rendered aid but were unsuccessful in reviving him.

The man, with ties to Huntington Beach, was believed to have preexisting medical conditions, police said. The police department and the Orange County Sheriff-Coroner’s Office are conducting a joint investigation and so far has not revealed anything suspicious, authorities said.

The man’s name is being withheld until his family can be notified.
