A little-known boutique luxury resort hidden in an ‘enchanting’ rainforest in Australia has been crowned the most romantic hotel in the world.
Narrows Escape Rainforest Retreat in Montville, a rural town in the Sunshine Coast hinterland of Queensland, has ranked number one as the ‘best romance hotel’ in Tripadvisor’s annual Travellers’ Choice Awards for Hotels of 2021.
Nestled in seven acres of a tropical forest, the resort featuring six villas describes itself as a ‘little slice of paradise’ offering couples ‘little extras’ like fine dining, a jacuzzi, log fireplaces and a verandah to soak in the natural surroundings.
The six cabins are tailored to suit different budgets and experiences.

Rates for the couples’ packages include a four-night ‘honeymoon heaven’ from $2,799, a two-night ‘lovestruck’ from $1,600, a three-day ‘romantic cocoon’ from $1,499 or a ‘luxe trekking’ experience for two nights from $1,900.
And the retreat is not just for couples. The resort offers other deals such as a two-night ‘girls getaway’ for friends from $1,680 and a two-night ‘babymoon’ for expectant mothers from $1,480.
Judges determined the rankings based on a range of criteria, including Tripadvisor reviews, location, room service and the romantic experiences offered onsite.
And it’s no surprise Narrows Escape earned a perfect five-star rating after receiving more than 600 reviews from satisfied guests.

‘Stayed with my partner for three nights here, this was heaven. Every detail has been thought of and provided with love and care. The bed was cozy, the room was perfect and the location was so beautiful,’ guest Jason wrote.
Emilie gave the hotel a five-star rating, saying: ‘We had the most perfect time for our anniversary. We honestly could not fault anything. Everything was perfect.’
Describing the resort as ‘mesmerising’, Bec said: ‘We enjoyed our restful stay at Narrows – it was everything and more than we expected.’
Chris also shared his review after a ‘relaxing, secluded and a romantic getaway’ with his wife.
‘The whole experience was amazing from the moment we arrived, the cabins are a great size with modern furnishings in a beautiful rainforest beside the creek,’ he said.
