Bradley Beal, wife slam Warriors Kent Bazemore over injury comments

Wizards guard Bradley Beal and his wife Kamiah put the full-court press on Warriors guard Kent Bazemore after he threw shade at Beal on Monday.

The war of words began when Bazemore, during a Warriors shoot around, spoke to the media about Steph Curry’s standing in this season’s NBA scoring race. Currently, Curry and Beal are neck-and-neck to claim the scoring title. Curry is averaging 31.9 points per game this season and Beal, who is out with a hamstring strain, is averaging 31.4. He suffered the injury in an impressive 50-point performance on Saturday in a win against the Pacers.

“49 points in 29 minutes, that’s unreal,” Bazemore said, laughing, while referencing his close friend Curry’s stats from his explosive performance on Saturday in a win over the Thunder. “We got guys hurting hamstrings to keep up.”

Beal caught wind of Bazemore’s comments, seemingly poking fun at his injury, and launched a series of fiery tweets in response. He even tagged Bazemore in each tweet and told a fan he did so, so that Bazemore would see.

“Lol should I let him live or really go off?,” Beal teased in his first tweet. “You don’t know me or sh-t about me bruh!!! You don’t know why I go out there and play and it damn sure ain’t for another man’s approval!!! You a straight LAME!!! But it don’t surprise me coming from you, thats what’s yo type do!!,” Beal wrote in a followup tweet.

“It’s funny you say that because ya mans admittedly checked my numbers before the game, but IM CHASING!!! Shut yo a– up!,” he continued. “Stay in my lane!! Focus on BRAD. Idc what another man doing in this league. I’m concerned about me and MY GUYS over here!! Keep that goofy sh-t over there @24Bazemore !!”

Beal, in a separate tweet, shared a clown GIF and tagged Bazemore. The Wizards star even re-tweeted fan tweets supporting him in the situation.

Amid the tweet spree, Beal’s wife, Kamiah Adams-Beal, who’s known for her social media posts advocating for her husband, chimed in.

In addition to re-tweeting her husband’s response, the beauty entrepreneur wrote, “Now why did Lamont have to go and start some sh-t he can’t even show up to compete in, let alone finish.” Bazemore’s full name is Kenneth Lamont “Kent” Bazemore Jr.

“In the words of youngbloodZ. ‘Don’t start no sh-t, won’t be no sh-t,” she added.

As for Bazemore, he hasn’t engaged with Beal and Kamiah on Twitter. Though, he acknowledged the situation after the Warriors win over the Hawks on Monday night.

“I guess you can’t joke anymore,” Bazemore said. “I don’t say things to ruffle feathers, but … if you want to know what my loyalty is, it’s to [Curry]. Anyone out there chasing him, it’s gonna be tough.”

When asked if he plans on reaching out to Beal to explain his comments, Bazemore replied, “There’s nothing really to explain; I was laughing, jokingly, half-heartedly said it… nothing malicious about that comment.”

Bazemore, who said his phone was “blowing up” after Beal’s tweets, added that he wouldn’t have reacted to his remarks the way Beal did.

“But to each their own; he’s a great player, played against him for a long time, he’s been getting better every year, so [I wish him] a speedy recovery,” Bazemore said, adding, “I hope that helps.”

Beal, after sitting out during Monday’s loss to the Hawks, will miss Wednesday’s rematch with Atlanta because of the hamstring strain.
