“Was £24 from Amazon and worth every penny.”

Another user said: “Wet & Forget is brilliant on fences!”

Another commented: “Wet & Forget from Amazon. Amazing stuff.”

However, if you’re not willing to spend that amount on a cleaning product, some users recommended a more affordable method.

One user said: “I’ve just done mine, I got a large spray bottle – the garden type that you pump up – filled it with 50 percent water and 50 percent bleach.

“It worked a treat. Didn’t kill any plants nearby because I could direct the spray with the garden sprayer.”

Another user said: “Try mixing bleach and white vinegar in warm water.

“Pour on and scrub with a nail brush (try on a little discrete area first) and repeat until it’s gone.”

Another cleaning fan suggested: “Scrub off with bleach and water, we had the same issue.

“Repainted afterwards and the green hasn’t come back.”

Some users recommended using a jet washer to remove the green algae substance.

Others also suggested using Spear & Jackson Spray and Leave Concentrated Mould, Algae and Moss Remover.
